A Level Results 2016
Press Release Statement:
Paget School students are celebrating excellent A level results today with a range of top grades.
All our students have been offered places at university and a staggering 90% of students got their first choice of institution.
A number of our star performers are venturing to different parts of the country to continue their studies. Amongst these are the following:
Emily Finnegan to Queen Mary’s (university of London) to study Maths
Georgia Gilholy to King’s College to study History
Abi Lockwood, as a newly appointed Holocaust Educational Trust Ambassador, will go to the University of Hull to study History
Jabraan Talib to the University of Sheffield to study Law.
Sohib Maskin –to the University of East London to study Pharmaceuticals
Headteacher, Marc Howell, said:
‘These results again demonstrate the strides made within our Sixth Form. We are so proud of the hard work put in by both staff and students alike’.
Rich Blaize, new Head of Sixth Form, said: ‘Again we’re delighted with these results. Over 80% of our students achieved grades of C or above at A level or equivalent’.
GCSE Results 2016:
Schools are no longer judged by pass rates in key subjects such as English and Maths. Such raw percentage scores masked the reality of how much progress students were really making at their school.
The Government now insists that a school’s progress can only be measured by looking at the Key Stage 2 (end of Primary school) results of students and then comparing these with their results at the end of Key Stage 4 (end of Year 11). It can then effectively measure the progress that a school makes. These results are taken from their 8 best subjects, but must include both English and Maths.
The national average for all schools is now measured as 0.00
If a school makes good progress with its students over the 5 years of their secondary education then it will score above 0.00 and be prefixed with a plus sign +. Similarly if it fails to make good progress it will score below 0.00 and be prefixed with a minus sign -.
At Paget we have recorded a Progress 8 score of +0.08
This is not yet validated and is based upon 2015 Progress 8 calculations. We do not yet know where in the top 50% of schools nationally we will be placed.
However, you can imagine we are proud of this performance and we will continue to strive for greater success in the coming years.
